Rainbow Springs' Adventure Park

"Squawk!" My favourite thing that I saw at Rainbow Springs was the bird show. All the birds there were performing parrots that came out of "secret" cages in the "walls" of the auditorium.
The first one that performed came out of a cage behind us (there were a lot of behind-the-scenes helpers) and I forgot its name, but it did a lot of swooping and landing on posts (I guessed that they were all trained).
I think that there six birds in total, but I can only remember two of their names: [by favourite order] Charlie and Rufus.
Charlie was my favourite and he could do all sorts of things!

Body Systems

My goals:
To add supporting details to ideas to help paint a clearer picture for the audience.
To also use a wider range of describing words and phrases to help develop the audience's understanding of my writing.

The Urinary System

11 Sep 2017 14:27:38.jpg

PHOTO: ^ Our Play-Dough impression of the left kidney.

INTRO: The kidney is like a pool-pump because it pumps the urine down to the urinary, via the bladder. On the image above, the yellows are the pipes going to the bladder.

DETAIL: All the blue/black dots are the bits that churn around the urine for quite some time, before they are taken to the bladder. The red parts are where energy and blood is taken to churn with water in the blue parts.

HEALTH: To keep your urinary healthy you should go to the toilet at least every hour and a half. If you do so and have had one and a half cups of water your wee should be a very dim yellow.

CONCLUSION: Without this cycle/system, our body cycles would not function properly. It would be like a cockroach without its exoskeleton. It’s actually quite (and not quite) easy to imagine living without the urinary system.

Similes And Metaphors In Custom "Fireworks"

Similes And Metaphors In Custom "Fireworks"

Do you ever feel like a mindless zombie; (np)
Being pulled back into the sea, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel like a rasping voice(np)?
Screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a sound in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like you live in it.(s)

'Cause, baby, you're a siren.(m)
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a rainbow(m)
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

You don't have to feel like a poisoned potato.(np)
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane becomes a rainbow

Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a new adventure(s), your future(np) will hold you tight,
And when it's time you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like you live in it(s)
'Cause, baby, you're a siren.(m)
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby, you're a rainbow(m)
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Max's Scratch Writing

Here it is:

Click here for a link to Scratch.

                            Welcome To:
“Scratch”ㄧyou’ve probably heard people talk about it. Similar to “Code.org” and/or “Code Combat”, all using the same “drag and drop” “block code” strategy.

The first thing you’ll see when you go onto the Scratch programme will be the title screen. To make things, click the “create” button up on the top.
There are 10 different block menus that are colour coded and 3 main menus up at the top. To start any script you’ll have to get a “starter block”* from the “Events” menu. Now, you can attach anything (as long as it works) underneath itㄧfor example, the code below is for the letter “X” in the “Animate My Name”.
So, with some help, you’re away! Before you know it, you’ve made:
  • Games,
  • Music,
  • And stories!
There are millions of things you can make with Scratch!!

*Note: A starter block is a dark-orange or just orange** block that prohibits you from putting anything above it:
.
**The other orange block is technically yellow.

My planning is clearly visible in my writing and
I have expanded my ideas by using adjectives, adverbs and figurative language.

***Note: I accidentally wrote instead of planning, so next time I’ll write keywords and simple sentences to make it faster to write.

"Who's The Best? #1"

Here is our recording.

⇓Here is our recording.

"We are practising reading with more expression"

Reflection On Recording:

In this play, "Who's The Best? #1", I acted as Pluto and Jupiter. We practised this twice, and then we recorded for three times.
1: to many mistakes. 2: 5 seconds long. 3: this one, obviously!
This one still has some noticeable mistakes, but way less than take 1!
Pluto and Jupiter didn't say that much. To tell you the truth, I actually picked random!
The theme of the play was a court case...in space! We actually recorded outside; "Shh!"
For Pluto I used a squeaky small voice, (kind of obvious) and for Jupiter I used a "Fat" voice. (Kind of obvious to!)

THE END

Maybe?

Awesome Rocket Science!!

Awesome Rocket Science!!

Here is a video of the official rocket launch from St Mary's rocket pad, Rotorua.

I think that the absolutely fantastic flying plastic bottle was over 9000!

I saw that it must have been tremendously tense to pump and launch the bottles.

Sustainability Reflection

Sustainability Reflection

Here is a short clip of Room 4's Sustainability Exhibition.        v

The exhibition was very overcrowded, especially in between 1:30 and 3:00. Our station was one that attracted a lot of attention because our group had been very thoughtful. Nathaniel had come up with the idea. Mr James had allowed us to do whatever we wanted for the exhibition. So, Nathaniel used a cardboard box and cut a square inside the box (with scissors) so that a computer screen would fit inside powered by a macbook

Writing Goals 2017

Max's Writing Goals, 2017

Update 15/6/17

I need to add supporting details to ideas to help paint a clearer picture for the audience.
To also use a wider range of describing words and phrases to help develop the audience's understanding of my writing.

How will I know when I have accomplished these goals?:

I will read more describing words and joining phrases in my writing so the audience will understand my writing more easily The joining phrases will help to link the ideas of my writing so I don't use to many sentences in my writing.

CC17 (Cross Country 2017)

Cross Country 2017

Last Friday the middles and seniors went to the yearly annual St Mary's Primary Cross Country. Room Four drove there after their Maori Gardens trip.

I liked how the Cross Country gave me an opportunity to experience nature's forests and trees.

I think that the Cross Country was to much for me because I litrully fell asleep afterwards.

Into The Woods

Hey, people; you just must go 'n' see J.P.Cs "Into The Woods" show at the Sir Howard Morrison Convention Centre before it is to late! I really recommend seeing it because it'll be just as entertaining as it was when I saw it with the rest of my class.

The stage was well lit up along with an amazing orchestra that played in time with the story  line.

The costumes were beautifully designed and must of taken months to make and colour.

The* play/story line is split into two unevenly long halves going through five different fairy tales all mushed together. In conclusion, they had their own ending in which the narrator was taken away and a giant attacked.

*Sorry for using to many "The"s.

Food For Thought

My group and I in the New World supermarket.

I think... ? learning to read the nutriton nutrition info on the back of food products was a fun activity but it also helped me to decide the right kind of food.

I learnt to read the nutrition information on thr the back of food products to help me make healthy choices.

I wonder... how our group was half an hour late.

Mini Marathon Training

This is the map of the training course so Room Four could get ready for the
mini marathon. Unfortunately, I got a severe allergic reaction to
unknown on Tuesday, with three more days until the mini marathon.

Here is the map for the mini marathon. The numbers are
checkpoints with parent helpers helping to cheer kids on.
The mini marathon was on the fifth of May, Two thousand and
seventeen at the Rotorua Government gardens.

Down below are some photos of the mini marathon.
